Authorities in the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Burgas have launched an investigation into an unknown substance that has appeared on a number of beaches.
The white granular chemical is greasy and emits an oil-like odour.
Ecologists in the area have said it may come the unlawful cleaning of portable toilets on ships out at the sea.
