The Great Bull Run Brings Running Of The Bulls To The US

The Running of the Bulls began in Spain in the early 14th Century and has since become an international event. However, a trip to Spain is out of reach for many Americans… but no more.  This past weekend, The Great Bull Run kicked off in Petersburg, Virginia, the first Running of the Bulls to be held in The United States.

Thousands of adrenalin junkies flooded the quarter mile track for their chance to run long side the massive beasts in a stampede of fun and fear.

Like Spain the run was followed by a massive tomato fight known as Tomato Royale.

However, people not bulls may have been the greatest danger.

After watching the first run, I was more than a little nervous, but I decided to give it a try.

It was not all fun and games as two people were rushed to the hospital after the final run. In addition several dozen people were treated for minor cuts and bruises.

Despite the casualties of the first Bull Run, the traveling event is full steam ahead for the next scheduled stop on October 19th in Atlanta, Georgia; other cities in the nationwide tour include Houston, Tampa and Los Angeles.
