About 24 Thai demonstrators gathered outside the British embassy in Bangkok on Tuesday (August 27) to protest former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair's upcoming appearance at a political forum.

According to local media, the Thai government have paid Blair to speak at the one day forum that will discuss ways to bring peaceful reconciliation between the country's opposing political parties.

The government has denied paying for anything other than Blair's accommodation in Thailand.

Protesters handed over a letter to the British government, calling for Blair not to participate in what they call a lecture of political manipulation.

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is also expected to attend the event.
