One man in Vero Beach, Florida became enraged because his neighbor kept feeding squirrels peanuts. 57-year-old Eugene Oates allegedly went so far as to assault his neighbor.

Owning a house doesn’t necessarily give homeowners complete freedom. Neighbors may still find what you do on your own property objectionable.

57-year-old Eugene Oates from Vero Beach, Florida became enraged because his neighbor kept feeding squirrels peanuts.According to police, the battle between the neighbors first started because Oates was furious about peanut shells that were deposited all over his lawn.

The squirrels had left behind the unappetizing portion of the peanuts which the neighbor had given to the creatures.

He confronted the nearby dweller, Ernest Willette about the problem.

Oates reportedly opened the screen door to Willette’s home and grabbed his arm in an attempt to forcibly pull his neighbor outside. Willette was hesitant and grabbed the door frame to hold his body in place.

He had known Oates was upset over the shell issue and didn’t want the disagreement to escalate, but nevertheless, Oates refused to calm down. The police were called to the scene.

Oates was arrested and charged with battery. He was booked into the Indian River County jail and later released on a $500 bond.
