Police in North Carolina are looking for thieves who reportedly stole items that were destined to go to needy children. The suspects forcibly entered through the front door of a non-profit organization Helping Hand Mission.

They stole about 60 backpacks which were going to be handed out to underprivileged kids for the beginning of school. In addition to the theft, the crooks also stole the group’s 1999 Silverado pickup truck.

A police spokesperson stated “Apparently they located the key inside and took it from the parking lot.” The break in occurred over the weekend when the organization was closed.

The theft was reported on the following Monday after workers noticed the front door of the building was seriously damaged. The stolen truck bears North Carolina's license plate and is estimated at about $10,000. The backpacks are worth approximately $1,000.

No arrests have been made and thus far the police have no suspects.

Law enforcement authorities are asking members of the public to come forward with any information about the break in or the culprits responsible.
