A woman thought to be abducted in Fort Myers Florida, Ashley Bernice Ortiz Del Valle, has been found safe, but her tale of horror turned out to be untrue. Authorities are alleging that she faked her own kidnapping and went so far as to strike herself in the face, causing a black eye.

After she was discovered, the 28-year-old woman told cops that on the day of the supposed abduction, she went to her place of employment and worked until a little before 1:30 am . She decided to drive to her bank to make a deposit, however she changed her mind and made a U-turn.

While at a stop sign, the lady claimed a man and woman opened the passenger door of her unlocked car and hopped in. She said one of the suspects forced her to take suspicious pills, while the other pointed a gun at her.

Ortiz Del Valle said they stole jewelry, but she was eventually able to pepper spray the suspects and get away. After investigating, cops learned she had been to the bank during the afternoon and that she had not been at work that evening

Ortiz Del Valle was arrested for making a false report of a crime.
