A man in Kellogg, South Carolina was recently killed in one of the most traumatic ways possible. 18-year-old Kyle A. Smith was struck by an eastbound traveling train at a little after 1 in the morning on a recent Wednesday night.

A young man in Kellogg, Iowa was recently killed in one of the most traumatic ways possible. 18-year-old Kyle A. Smith was struck by an eastbound train around 1am early on a recent Wednesday morning.

The train conductor initially saw a person lying on the tracks. The brakes were applied and the horn was activated ahead of time, however Smith didn’t move from the tracks and the train was not able to stop in time.

Workers at the Iowa Interstate Railroad contacted authorities at around 1:20 am. Sadly, approximately 10 minutes later, an emergency crew located Smith’s body on the tracks but it was too late. He was immediately pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a Jasper County law enforcement spokesperson, the incident is currently thought to be an accident, however the circumstances surrounding the bizarre and abrupt death remain under investigation.

The sheriff stated “We’re still gaining information and trying to determine a timeline as to what this individual was doing up to that point.” During the preliminary investigation, the nearby Highway 22 was closed for about four hours.
