A fraudulent animal exhibit at a zoo in China came to light after an animal, which was classified as an African lion, began barking. Upon investigation, the supposed lion actually turned out to be a Tibetan mastiff, which is a giant breed dog with long hair.
Giant fluffy dogs could be mistaken for zoo animals, but you definitely wouldn’t expect a facility to intentionally disguise a pooch for one. Nevertheless, a zoo in China been accused of exactly that.
The fraudulent animal exhibit came to light after the pet animal, which was classified as an African lion began barking. Upon investigation, the supposed lion actually turned out to be a Tibetan mastiff.
The zoo charges people over $2 for an admission ticket. One customer stated “The zoo is absolutely cheating us. They are trying to disguise the dogs as lions.”
Of course, the facility had an explanation, citing the incident as a sort of mishap. According to the chief of the animal department, the lion that normally lives at the zoo was temporarily removed from the enclosure while being transported to a breeding facility. Meanwhile, the dog, which belonged to an employee at the zoo, was placed it into the lion’s cage for safety reasons.
Several other discrepancies were made public after the dog discovery.
Rodents at the same zoo had been housed in a snake’s cage and a white fox was contained in a leopard’s enclosure
