While we treat our pets like family, every now and then, there's a reminder of how we are very different.
In a disturbing report, a British woman who passed away in her own home was eaten by her cats. The body of 56-year-old Janet Veal was found in Ringwood, Hampshire, on April 4th of this year.
Concerned neighbors contacted emergency workers after Veal had not been seen in some time.
Police used a ladder to gain entry into her home and what they discovered was traumatic and shocking. Veal had been lying on the kitchen floor of her home. On top of locating Veal’s body, authorities found trash scattered around the home and several dead pets including a cat and a dog.
There were numerous other animals that were still living inside the house. Given that she led a reclusive life, it was believed Veal had been dead for at least several months before she was found.
Some parts of Veal’s body were missing and according to the coroner, the starving animals had chewed and eaten her dead body to survive.
Authorities believe Veal died of natural causes.
