It takes about six hours to drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco, which is a journey of 500km.

Billionaire Elan Musk, who co-founded PayPal among other ventures, is planning to cut that journey to just 30 minutes with a train which speeds along at 1,000km per hour.

He hopes to build a working prototype of the Hyperloop within three years.

Al Jazeera’s Rob Reynolds reports from Los Angeles.
