So-called smart technologies are essential for the integration of renewable energies in our electricity system. Through them, users are able to control and adjust their consumption. Grid operators can react more easily to bottlenecks and adapt the electricity supply during peak times. But the virtue of being remotely controlled has its downsides (cyberterrorism, data protection…).
