A patient who was being transported to the hospital reportedly jumped out of ambulance he was in and stole another ambulance that was stopped nearby.

Rescue workers in Washington D.C. recently got quite a shock. A patient who was being transported to the hospital reportedly jumped out of ambulance he was in and stole another ambulance that was stopped nearby.

A 31-year-old man was allegedly high on PCP when medical authorities were called in to assist at about 9:30 on a Saturday morning. The male was placed into the back of an ambulance however the vehicle got into a minor crash.

As part of a routine procedure, another ambulance was sent to the accident scene to pick up the patient. That’s when the man jumped out of the back of the ambulance he was resting in and climbed into the driver’s seat of the second one.

He quickly put it in gear and took off. Police chased the suspect for about 7 blocks before getting him to stop.

He is now facing auto theft charges. The emergency workers may also receive disciplinary action stemming from the incident.
