Residents in Detroit are left with an uneasy feeling after the police department recently warned people about imposter cops.

There have been at least two confirmed incidents from the local area, where drivers encountered someone they believed to be an officer.

However instead of being issued a ticket, they were robbed at gunpoint. Now the real police are on the hunt for two or three men, who are posing as undercover officials.

In one report, two brothers were robbed while getting gas. The men were pushed against vehicles and pistol whipped by two imposter cops driving a black Ford F-150 with police lights.

In another crime, a man headed to work in the morning was stopped by an unmarked vehicle. Three fake officers approached the car and robbed the unsuspecting victim.

The male victim described the car as an older-model, black Crown Victoria with red and blue lights flashing from the vehicle’s lower windshield. It is believed both incidents are related.

The police department made it clear that if a driver has any doubt, he or she can refuse to stop and call 911 to make sure the officer is legitimate.
