Common Gull butterflies mud puddling in Landour

This butterfly is common in India (including the Andaman and Nicobar islands), Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
It is seen mainly in drier plains, around ill- kept farmlands and scrub forests. Known to migrate. They come to flowers as written in Isaac Kehimkar's, book of Indian butterflies, they are often seen in large numbers mudpuddling in hot weather.
They fly up to 1,20 m in the Himalaya, and up to 2,450 m in the hills of South India. Eggs Laid Singly.
