Animals have an innate ability to help those who are suffering from both physical and emotional pain.

Vito is a dog who can commonly be seen at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

The pooch along with his owner frequently visit the young patients at the facility, as part of a volunteer program. The goal is to give the kids something to look forward to and ultimately lift their spirits.

Vito is a good fit for the hospital. The young 2½-year-old Labrador retriever wasn’t always in good health. Due to a birth defect, Vito was forced to undergo surgery to have a kidney removed.

His past, along with his happy, good natured temperament makes him an absolutely perfect therapy dog. The children at the hospital suffer from various ailments including kidney problems and cancer.

Vito commonly visits the facility for hours at a time, never in a rush to leave his small, human friends. As an additional heartwarming bonus, the parents of the kids, who are often left with no one to talk to, are finding comfort in Vito’s unconditional love and affection.
