Gardens of the Atomic Age: Landscaping Eichler Homes
Dwell on Design - LA Convention Center
Hear two of California's foremost landscape architects talk about their approaches to designing gardens for historically sensitive homes. Monterey-based Bernard Trainor is known for an approach informed by architecture, climate, conservation, and local culture. Trainor says in his recently published monograph Landprints: The Landscape Designs of Bernard Trainor, "My designs respond to complexity onsite and...harmonize with the bigger picture." He'll chat about a recently completed Eichler in Sunnyvale, California; an ongoing project in Carmel's Santa Lucia Preserve featured in the April 2013 issue of Dwell; and more. Ive Haugeland, principal of Sausalito's Shades of Green Landscape Architecture, is known for taking a sustainability-minded tack. She'll detail a mid-century modern renovation in Hillsborough, CA, a small-space garden in San Francisco, and more.
