Hi everyone. This is Rene sangha on the KidandParent Life Series.
Talking so that people will listen,Do you find that your words and intentions are mistaken often?
I had an argument with my mom when I went home after an outing with friends yesterday and told her I was going out again today. If I had told her that it was my friend's birthday today, I think she would have been OK with it.
REMEMBER, communication is not just about talking louder or longer. It is about making the other person understand what you say.
So, talk clearly and listen carefully. YES, listening is just as important as talking. Give the speaker your complete attention, make eye contact and they will feel connected to you and will listen more closely to what you have to say as well.
In addition to talking clearly and listening well, body language also plays an important part. At times, our body language and what we are saying do not match. We maybe saying "Yes, I understand" and at the same time shaking our head. This can send out mixed signals.
Learning the art of communicating effectively helps you shine in all relationships be at school, college or at work. Make the effort. It will be time well spent. Bye.. Bye..
