Protesters in India's Kashmir face off with police as clashes renew.

Anger in the divided territory is boiling over after several violent incidents this week.

On Thursday, Indian paramilitary soldiers killed four and wounded 40 others when they opened fire on demonstrators in the Doda district.

Security forces say they fired in self-defence when protesters stormed their camp and the government has ordered a probe into the incident.

According to locals, the Border Security Force also barged into an Islamic school in Dadad village Wednesday and beat students and desecrated a Koran.

Both India and Pakistan claim the border region of Kashmir, with India accusing its neighbour of supporting separatist rebels and undermining its rule.

Pakistan denies arming the rebels, saying it only offers them political support.
