British scientists have discovered that human urine has the power to revive dead mobile batteries, even in smartphones.

British scientists from Bristol Robotics Laboratory say you can re-charge your dead phone by simply peeing on it.

Well, sort of – they’ve discovered that human urine has the power to revive dead mobile batteries, even in smartphones.

The technology relies on microbial fuel cells, which use live micro-organisms to metabolize organic substances into electricity.

The energy was routed to a capacitor and successfully administered a charge to a smartphone.

One of the inventors said, "So far, the microbial fuel power stack that we have developed generates enough power to enable SMS messaging, Web browsing and to make a brief phone call."

He also mentioned that his team was the first to harness the power of urine, and pointed out that it is an inexhaustible source.

One future step is to develop the fuel cells to charge the battery for longer periods to permit longer calls.

There’s also talk of expanding out into using urine to electrify whole bathrooms. The researchers foresee a time when lights, showers, and electric razors will all be powered by urine.
