According to Steve Reynolds, a preacher from Virginia and founder of the Bod4God weight loss program, the Bible is, “the greatest health book in the world.”

Inspite of numerous diet and exercise regiments, obesity is on the rise.

Steve Reynolds has developed a program called Bod4God, a diet and fitness regime founded in four beliefs, the first of which is establishing dedication by “honoring God with your body.”

According to Reynolds, a preacher from Virginia, the Bible is, “the greatest health book in the world.”

Fed up with what he called his own hypocrisy – standing at the pulpit talking about bodily sins while weighing almost 350 pounds – he turned to God for weight loss inspiration.

The program has helped its members lose over 17 thousand pounds.

One medical expert attributes the successes of Reynolds program and others like it to that fact that it’s compatible with its participants’ beliefs.

For them, Biblical stories of triumph over obstacles provide the motivation needed because they’re already deeply invested in them.

Another important element that faith-based diet programs have in their favor is their emphasis on building community and support groups.

Much like the bonds formed in gyms and neighborhood parks, it’s important to have people who can relate and offer support.
