Zoo Atlanta is now home to a set of twin panda cubs.

Babies, whether they be humans or animals are always adorable.

Zoo Atlanta is now home to a set of twin panda cubs. The event marks the first twin panda birth in the US in 26 years. Their mother’s name is Lun Lun. The 15-year-old father is called Yang Yang. (1,2,1)

Although the genders were not immediately known, the tiny pink creatures, which each weighed only a few ounces at birth are awww-inducing bundles of beauty. Black hair will start growing in patches within the next few weeks. (1,5,1)

The CEO of Zoo Atlanta stated “Twins are an entirely new scenario for Lun Lun, Zoo Atlanta and our animal care teams, who will no doubt be extremely busy over the next few months.” (1,6,1) The twins have been separated, as panda mothers are known to care for only one at a time, so the babies will essentially rotate turns with the new mom. It is expected the twins will appear on zoo exhibit sometime later this year, in the Fall.
