Bombardment in Homs

The bombardment of Homs goes on.

Amateur video which could not be independently verified by Reuters appears to show the ongoing shelling of Syria's third largest city.

The footage comes as the international Red Cross has appealed for a halt to the fighting in the old city of Homs. They hope to deliver much needed supplies to citizens trapped by the war.

The uprising has become increasingly violent with more than 100,000 killed in a conflict that began with peaceful protests more than two years ago.

As the war rages across the country U.S. President Barack Obama told Saudi Arabia's king on Friday that he is committed to providing U.S. support to Syrian rebels.

No U.S. arms have reached the Syrian rebels, who are struggling to hold back an offensive by the Syrian government.

The American weapons have been caught in a Washington impasse as some members of the U.S. Congress fear the arms will end up in the hands of the wrong people.
