American journalist, Glenn Greenwald, the first to publish U.S. spy agency documents leaked by fugitive former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden.
After an online chat with Snowden on Tuesday, Greenwald said Venezuela - one of three Latin American countries to offer asylum - was the most likely to guarantee his safety.
He says Snowden is only releasing information he believes will benefit a public debate and shed light on U.S. practices.

"From the very beginning of my conversations with him, what he was emphasising most emphatically was that we exercise very careful journalistic judgment about what ought to be released in the public interest and not cause harm in what shouldn't be released.
