Three crooks in Florida were recently arrested for pulling off the ultimate chicken heist.

James Joseph Smith, Tyler Lee Jones and Darrin Luke Edwards allegedly swiped a 9-foot tall, 600-pound chicken statue.

The owner of the art piece claimed he heard some noise and glanced down the street. He was stunned to witnesses a pickup truck towing the purple aluminum chicken.

Hilariously, one of the suspects was sitting on top of the chicken, riding it as the other two males sat in the getaway vehicle. The trio later unhooked the aluminum bird after dragging it about a mile down the road.

Detectives caught up with the three men the day after the theft. They were identified through eyewitness accounts and surveillance footage.

The males were arrested and each was charged with grand theft. The statue was returned to the owner.

A detective on the case stated “The chicken is valued at $2300.00 and sustained a broken leg, broken claw and there was extensive damage to one side.”
