On March 2nd, 37-year-old Cynthia Brown stole a car from the parking lot of a business in Springfield, Missouri. However Brown didn’t initially realize that 2 small children were in the backseat.
As she drove away from the scene, a 4-year-old boy said ‘Hi’. When she looked back, Brown noticed the young boy along with a 13-month-old girl.
The father of the children reportedly left them in the unlocked car with the keys in the ignition while he ran into a local store. Brown claimed to have “"freaked out" and sideswiped another vehicle after she noticed the kids.
She let the little boy out of the vehicle on a nearby street with his dad’s cell phone. She told the child to call an adult.
Roughly 7 hours later, the car was found abandoned in a parking lot with the baby girl still in the back. Neither child was harmed or injured.
Investigators later interviewed the 4-year-old boy. He described Brown as an “ugly white lady”.
She has since been arrested and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child along with first-degree tampering.
