More Women Are Cheating on Their Husbands

Although the number of men who cheat on their wives is higher than the number of women who cheat, the gap is getting smaller.

Although the number of men who admit to cheating on their wives is higher than the number of women, the gap is getting smaller.

In a survey of American spouses, the number of women who admitted to extramarital affairs went up by nearly 40 percent in the last twenty years.

14 point 7 percent of wives who participated in the survey admitted to cheating on their husbands in 2010, while the number of men who cheated remained at 21 percent.

The reason behind the change in the number of women who cheat in their relationships may have to do with more women working and being less financially dependent on their partners.

So for a working wife, the risk of being caught cheating and losing their husband is not as high.

On the other hand, men who are financially dependent on their wives are actually more likely to cheat, while men who earn more than their wives may have the means and opportunities to hide their indiscretions.
