A woman in Deerfield Beach, Florida thwarted an intruder after holding up a gun which she kept on her nightstand. Unknown to the burglar, the firearm was actually a toy.

Sometimes it's not that hard to chase a thief away.

A woman in Deerfield Beach, Florida, Jane Rainboth was lying in bed when her small dog began growling. She looked up to see a pair of eyes looking at her through the dark bedroom door frame.

On her nightstand was a black pistol. She began screaming that she had a gun and held it up.

But there’s one thing to know about the firearm, it was a toy. The burglar immediately took off and left the residence. Rainboth stated “I guess if somebody tells you they've got a gun, you don't want to stick around to find out if it's real or not.”

The replica pistol belongs to her 17-year-old son and is able to shoot tiny pellets, but could barely hurt even a small animal.

After the confrontation, Rainboth called 911 and deputies soon arrived. Police authorities found the suspect hiding in some woods nearby.

27-year-old Roland Stuart was arrested and charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling.
