Construction is now underway for a five-star hotel which will reside inside of a long-forgotten quarry in China. Instead of building on the surrounding grounds, the hotel will be placed right into the mountainous landscape.

In the competitive hotel industry, successful hoteliers know they have to stand out.

Construction is now underway for a five-star hotel which will reside inside of an abandoned quarry in China. The water filled quarry rests at the base of a mountain.

Instead of building on the surrounding grounds, the hotel will be built inside the 300 foot deep pit up, essentially becoming part of the quarry. Slated to reach 19 stories high, the resort’s design will feature a manmade waterfall, stemming from the roof of the building.

Two of the floors will be underwater, allowing visitors to see beneath the water’s surface with the help of glass walls. In total the hotel will have 380 guest rooms, as well as conference and dining facilities including an underwater restaurant.

As a major bonus, the surrounding environment will no longer be abandoned. Instead of just taking in the view, guests will be able to physically enjoy the grounds with watersports, cliff climbing and even bungee jumping planned.
They can take part in watersports or climb the cliffs.

The hotel construction and design is estimated to cost nearly $525 million.
