S African police pay tribute to Mandela

Former President Nelson Mandela on Monday continued to receive treatment for a recurring lung infection in hospital in Pretoria.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE CAPTAIN, MOSES SITHEBE, PREACHING, SAYING:

"Others are preparing the grave without getting the answer from God, Amen, Modimo (God) is not yet time for that, others are saying it's time for you to be buried Madiba, Modimo (God), is not yet my time."

Local and international media continued to gather outside the hospital, capturing the mood of South Africans who have been sharing the family's concern for Mandela's condition.

Mandela has been in hospital since June 8. On Sunday, U.S. President Barack Obamaand his family paid tribute to Nelson Mandela by visiting the bleak former prison of Robben Islandin Cape Town.

Mandela's struggle with the lung infection has been a sombre backdrop to Obama's eight-day Africa trip. The government has not issued any updates on his health but said his condit
