Demonstrators clash with police

A group of demonstrators clashed with police Sunday (June 30th) outside Rio de Janeiro's Maracana stadium where the Confederations Cup final between Brazil and Spain was just getting underway.

Protesters hurled Molotov cocktails and fire crackers at police who used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowds.

Sunday's demonstrations were relatively small compared to previous protests.

The movement, initially sparked by a rise in transportation costs, has grown to include social issues like rising crime, corruption and perceived over-spending on next year's World Cup and upcoming Olympics.

Brazil's national team shut out world champions Spain 3-0.
