From Album Dimitris Poulikakos. "Metaphorai Ekdromes O Mitsos" 1976 one of The best 15 albums of Greek Rock.

A living legend of the greek rock scene, one of the "old", he didnt have the tragic finale of other leges around and world and in greece, of them who walk like ghosts and hunt our souls with rock n roll. He is still alive and he could easily be a guest in a morning television program or a reality like some other of his age do, but he prefers the humbleness of being in low profile, after all usually only shit floats on the water. You could see him playing a role in b-movie, or speaking on a documentary about greek rock, or in a non-commercial gig of solidarity, or else obsiously in the area of Victoria in athens where he lives. In 26 septermber of this year he and many others will appear in a live concert to help Simon Seisides, an anarchist who is in prison and lost one leg due to police and prison doctors' neglection.
So its not difficult for me to say that "uncle Nondas" -as they also call him- is one of the most original figures of the scene. He begun in the mid '60s, in 1967 he formed the M.G.C. (until 1969), after that came Exadaktylos (sixfinger, 1971-'73), a great band which released very few and rare tracks many of whom were prohibited (in greece there still was a dictatorship, 1967-'74).
This is the first of only a few albums he released. Often with his sarcasm and the "childish" way he plays with music you will notice his influence by Frank Zappa, but he doesnt copy him. In this album except of rock n roll you'll listen tango, rebetiko and even a taste of tradition.
So we start with the first track, one of the best "skoni petres laspi (dust stones and mud)", talks about the reality of the modern greek worker/family man, not so far away from the similar people around the world finally ..."woman talks a lot / and the kid at the luna park at sundays / fifty hours work every week / for two plates of oiled beans..." After this hi takes as in a supermarket (one of the thousands that exists, maybe yours), its one of my favourites, i like his sarcastic way, and i hate the sterilized brainwashing corridors of these places made for man-machines. Whatever, every track has its interest and so i must go on, im sure Poulikakos himself sounds better than i do. Musically i'd like to tell you about the song "pes mu vre treli (tell me you crazy woman)" a rebetiko that was created by him. His crew in this album is consisted of ex members of Exadaktylos and some more. Also i learned something that was confusing me for a long, in the re-release in a cd version from the mid and after song listing is wrong in the back cover and a song is missing.
