Although it seems unbelievable, this was an amateur band of Yale University (New Haven, Connecticut). Except for Stewart Pletcher, none of these musicians made a career in music after obtaining their degree. They made only a couple of commercially issued sides. Personnel on this 1930 semi-private recording (a very limited number of copies were pressed in the Columbia Private series) session included: Carl Webster (bb,sb) directing Stewart Pletcher (t,v,arr), Seelye Vidal-Harold Fletcher (t), Gene Roselli (tb), Louis Rappaport (later known as Barry Wood) (cl,as), Bob Bruce (c, cl,as,v,arr), Hank Palmer (as,arr), Al Thompson (ts,v), Sidney Fine (p), Neil Waterman (g), Jimmy Devlin (d). This amazing side features a rarely heard composition by band arranger and saxophone player Hank Palmer.
