It’s usually not wise to take a nap in a trash container. One woman in Arizona has learned that the hard way.

38-year-old Jessica Bunyar from Globe was lifted and dumped into a garbage truck after she fell asleep in a Dumpster. She went undetected for quite some time, as the driver of the Copper State Sanitation truck conducted roughly 10 additional stops after unknowingly loading her onto the vehicle.

Here’s where it gets terrifying – the trash was compacted at least 8 times before the driver was alerted that someone was in the back. A local citizen heard screaming and immediately tipped off the truck operator.

Emergency crews were called. Bunyar was discovered in the storage compartment. Rescue workers got her out and amazingly she survived the ordeal. She was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Globe’s fire chief stated “She's very lucky. She was talking to us. We were able to get her on top of the truck, stabilize her.”
