About 200 people were attending the festivities. A disturbing incident was caught on camera when event staff dumped barrels of liquid nitrogen into a pool to add a smoke effect.
Nine people were in the pool at the time. Shortly after the liquid nitrogen was added, party guests began gasping for air while swimmers in the pool lost consciousness.
Paramedics arrived on scene and pulled them from the water but all nine swimmers were hospitalized. Eight of them had been released at the time of the report.
A 21-year-old is left in a comatose state.
It is currently believed that the liquid nitrogen mixed with the chlorine in the pool and created a toxic chemical reaction. Jagermesiter has released a statement, claiming the company is working with law enforcement and event organizers to determine exactly what happened.
