Bilbao, Jun 21 (EFE).- Ernesto Villaverde was presented on Friday as Athletic Club de Bilbao's new manager. He spoke at a press conference and claimed that substituting former coach Marcelo Bielsa would be a "challenge". He also commented on the difficulties behind rebuilding the team after the departure of key players such as Fernando Llorente.
The manager also spoke about the doubts that he had had in his mind about signing for Athletic related to Valencia fans who had pleaded for him to stay on their team. He also noted that that he was undeterred by the support and love Athletico fans showed for Bielsa, whom Valverde claimed was a manager with a "special charisma".
This will be the second time Valverde takes Bilbao's wheel as coach. He stated that it will be a difficult period, seeing as there are great expectations but added that he felt that it was like a challenge and did not feel that it was a negative situation.
