Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski from Alaska switched teams and is now supporting gay marriage. She is the third GOP senator to do so, behind Rob Portman and Mark Kirk. The gay rights advocacy group Human Rights Campaign immediately praised the decision, and USA Today reports the Catholic Murkowski says she believes that the government needs to stay out of deciding who can marry.
