Fifteen people were killed after a bus plunged 40 metres (around 131 feet) down a steep slope and crashed into a roadside valley in north-western China, state media reported on Wednesday (June 19).
The accident happened at around 5 p.m. local time (0900 GMT) on Tuesday (June 18) when the bus was driving back to the city of Chiangji from a nearby tourist spot, state television CCTV reported.
In total there were 36 people on board.
The other 21 people were all injured to various degrees, and had been rushed to local hospitals, it added.
All the passengers were employees of a local shopping mall, who attended the one-day outing organised by their company, according to local media.
Poor visibility due to heavy fog was to blame for the crash, according to preliminary investigations, said CCTV.
