STORY: President-elect Hassan Rohani held talks with outgoing President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday on beginning a transition of power.
Ahmadinejad said his government was ready to share its experience with the president-elect and handover responsibility to the next administration.
Rohani, who has held out the prospect of better relations between Iran the world, including the US, said the two had exchanged views on current issues Iran faces. He added two people would be appointed to act as points of contact between his and Ahmadinejad's administration during the transition period.
Rohani's new government will be formed after his inauguration in August. The moderate cleric has said his administration would "revive ethics and constructive interaction with the world through moderation".
