Sometimes there’s a fine line between a prank and an act that’s just completely disturbing. A troubling incident occurred at a Tesco supermarket in Saffron Walden, United Kingdom.

At a little after 1 in the morning on June 4th, a severed deer’s head was left at one of the store’s self-checkouts. Police just released information concerning the occurrence, hoping witnesses will come forward.

The surfaces of the self-service checkout hubs had to be professionally cleaned which cost the company over $450. A spokesman at Tesco stated “We apologise to our customers for this incident. It is a matter for the police and we are helping them with their enquiries.”

At this point, little is known about the crime. It remains unclear if surveillance footage captured the act.
