Moves are underway to increase the “Swissness” in manufactured products in Switzerland, such as watches. At least 50 per cent of the components of watch movements have to be Swiss. The other watch parts can be imported. The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry argues 60 per cent of the entire watch should be made in Switzerland in order to qualify for the “Swiss” label.
