Some children are exceptionally brave. A courageous 10-year-old boy in Brooklyn recently helped to thwart a robbery.
According to law enforcement, two males entered the family home by pretending to be FedEx delivery men. Once the child realized something was terribly wrong, he fled to his bedroom.
Two teenagers were also in the house and the thieves told them to sit in the living room while they searched the residence. One of the armed suspects reached the 10-year-old’s bedroom, but the child slammed the door on the robber, making him drop his weapon.
The boy grabbed the gun and fired a shot. The stunned thieves took off after shooting in the child’s direction but thankfully no one was struck. The suspects have not yet been caught. A neighbor revealed the family owns a store so the culprits may have believed there was money in the house.
Statistics concerning gun violence in New York City shows shootings are increasing even though the murder rate is dropping. Some neighborhoods including East New York and Brooklyn were found to have the highest gun crime.
