A high-speed chase along a Los Angeles highway Wednesday.

Police were in hot pursuit of a motorcyclist driving at speeds of over 145 km an hour, wanted on suspicion of reckless driving, according to NBC.

Seemingly unconcerned with safety, the motorcyclist weaved throughout traffic and even waved his hands at officers.

But in the end, his efforts to escape were futile as he drove onto a section of highway still under construction.

The motorcyclist eventually jumped from his bike and collapsed.

Two officers, with guns drawn, then approached the man and took him into custody.
