But one new mother has gone above and beyond. A woman in Utah, Lynette Hales delivered twin boys on the side of a highway. She also revived one of the infants by herself.
She was on the phone with a 911 operator for 20 minutes. When the first baby came out, he was not breathing. The dispatcher instructed the panicked new mom on how to perform CPR.
Hales was told to support the head and shoulders while blowing puffs of air into her child’s mouth. Thankfully she was able to successfully resuscitate the baby.
About a half an hour later, she delivered the other twin. By that time, state troopers had arrived on scene and they assisted with the birth.
Mom and her two new boys were taken to a nearby hospital where it was reported that they were doing very well. The twins are in the intensive care unit, as they weren’t due until August and both weighed a little over 3 pounds each.
