Microsoft proclaims advantage of Xbox One DRM, Microsoft cancels E3 post-conference roundtable, and AMD releases ‘Be Invincible’ trailer highlighting the tech behind PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!
Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. With much of Xbox One’s negative publicity deriving from DRM implementation locking games to the original owner, Microsoft has been forced to develop a message describing how such technology will provide a benefit to consumers. Phil Spencer, Microsoft Studios’ Corporate Vice President, has released such statement saying, “We think, actually, that having the content that’s yours go with you is an important thing,” Spencer continued by explaining, “You could have multiple Xbox Ones, your content is yours on every one of them, and it doesn’t require that you carry discs back and forth. The disc becomes a means of distributing the bits back and forth but the content is locked to you.” Questions are still floating around how the second-hand market will be handled, but Microsoft has continued to reply with the ‘just wait’ treatment, so hopefully we’ll hear more next week during Microsoft’s E3 2013 press conference.
One thing we will not receive after Microsoft’s conference is their usual post-conference roundtable. Microsoft has announced that they have cancelled their roundtable with the media without providing any justification as to why the decision was made. It’s honestly a bit concerning considering the negativity publicity already surrounding the company’s upcoming console and considering their large statements last week about killing Sony during E3, I’m not too confident about this actually becoming the case. We’ll see for ourselves next week, but at this point, I’m feeling a bit shaky about Microsoft’s E3 presence.
Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, AMD has released a new trailer for their ‘A Series’ chipsets titled ‘Be Invincible’. Featuring CGI-like graphics showcasing the power behind their latest technology, future owners of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One seem to be in for an incredible adventure as if the trailer is any representation of what these processors are capable of, graphics are going to reach a point we never thought would be possible.
