Tallahassee City Hall was evacuated after a suspicious envelope was found. Inside the package was a check. As for the grainy texture, it turned out to be bread crumbs.

One recent scare in Tallahassee turned out to be a false alarm.

The City Hall was evacuated after a mail clerk found a package that was initially deemed to be suspicious. Apparently the worker had felt something granular inside of the envelope.

Employees and visitors were rushed out of the building and the fire department was called to the scene for testing. Thankfully the mail piece was not a threat.

Inside of the package was a check for payment. As for the grainy texture, it turned out to be bread crumbs.

When investigators contacted the sender, they learned the person wrote out the check on the table, which evidently hadn’t been cleaned beforehand.

Although it’s good to be cautious, some efforts are a little extreme. Recently a Towson library was evacuated after a suspicious bag was found on a bench outside of the building.

The area’s hazardous devices team was brought on scene. Inside of the bag were clothing pieces that were left behind for donation.
