Al Qarra - The Constitutional Court of Zimbabwe on Friday ruled that parliamentary and presidential elections must take place before July 31 and that president Mugabe must set a date for them before parliament’s term ends on June 29, triggering a political row over the timing and funding of the polls

These elections would entail the end of the unity government led by President Mugabe and his rival Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai.

For now, the country is facing the challenge of raising $ 132 million to finance the election.

President Robert Mugabe, 89 years old, has been in power since 1980. He is a candidate for his own succession.
