Two Asian maids were sentenced to 10 years in Prison. The women were both found guilty of performing witchcraft in their employers' residences.

For many witchcraft is very real.

In Saudi Arabia, sorcery is taken seriously. Two Asian maids were recently sentenced to receive 1,000 lashes and 10 years behind bars. The women were both found guilty of performing witchcraft in their employers’ residences.

According to the families who hired the housekeepers, their relatives were harmed following the sinister magic practices of the maids. Workers from the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice searched the two homes located in the capital city.

They located talismans and other pieces associated with supernatural powers in the bedrooms of the housekeepers.

Islamic law is strictly enforced in Saudi Arabia.

Although it may seem like the maids got a tough legal sentence, other suspects have been beheaded in the past for practicing witchcraft.

In some places, sorcery is both believed in and feared.

Earlier this year, authorities in Swaziland made an official law which regulated air traffic for supernatural worshippers. Essentially, witches on broomsticks were banned from flying over 150 meters high.
