PangoUSA, the Israel based company that launched the world’s first pay by mobile phone parking service, just kicked off nationally in New York City and Phoenix, Arizona. Pango gives consumers a convenient and easy way to park using their smartphones on either the street or garages.

Pango invented the science behind pay by phone parking, and was awarded the US Patent (5,940,481) in 1997 making the company the first in the world to have this technology. Today, Pango operates in 47 cities worldwide, serving more than 1 million active accounts, and processing approximately 2 million transactions monthly. Pango is one of the only companies in the world which provides on-street, gated, valet, event, and fleet based parking services through an app.

The free app just kicked off in NYC at Imperial Garage, the largest private network of NYC parking garages, allowing New Yorkers to schedule when their car will arrive, and to pay for the parking through the interactive app. Imperial offers valet-based parking at their 110 garage locations around the city.

In addition, Pango is offering drivers coupons for local retailers. For example, at CityScape, a 1.1 million square foot mixed-use space, patrons use it to pay for parking meters, validate their parking from retailers and they also receive coupons for discounts at local retailers.

Neil Edwards, President of PangoUSA, is the inventor of the first pay by mobile phone parking service and has built successful mobile, internet, and software brands domestically and internationally in a career spanning 26 years.

Some of Edwards’ recent successes include his role as CEO for venture-backed Cellufun (mobile social gaming); CEO for dotMobi (mobile digital media) backed by Google, Microsoft, Visa, Vodafone and other tier one mobile brands; and, Vice President for VeriSign (Internet identity, payment, and security).
