Australia is the happiest place in the developed world.
Despite being home to many of the world’s deadliest creatures, Australia has been ranked as the happiest place in the developed world.
This is the third year in a row they’ve taken the top spot in the Better Life Index put together by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
The country’s strong economy was key in garnering them the distinction among the more than 30 countries assessed. Specific criteria included income levels, health, safety, and housing.
Unlike the rest of the developed world, Australia avoided the worst of the 2009 financial meltdown.
Their economy has shown growth for over two decades, and its dollar is near its highest value in 30 years.
The majority of its stability comes from its wealth of natural resources. They include ample supplies of coal, natural gas, and uranium.
Aside from energy and mining, finance, healthcare, and construction are its top industries.
Despite its legendary surf and sand, tourism there is shockingly low. Experts say it’s because their dollar is strong, but who knows – it could be the aforementioned deadly creatures.
