A man creates a glowing engagement ring for his fiancée.
All engagement rings have roughly the same standard look. A male inventor in California, named Ben opted to go a different route.
He has spent the past several months designing and crafting a ring for his girlfriend. Ben wanted the jewelry piece to glow in the dark whenever he was in close proximity to his lady.
Working in a machine shop, the groom-to-be created the titanium ring and embedded a LED and copper coil assembly inside of the piece. The light penetrates from underneath the band, which gives off a glow through the stones.
The coil controls the LED, only allowing illumination when it comes in contact with an induced alternating magnetic field. Basically Ben will wear a bracelet which works with the copper coil to make the ring glow.
The project was a success, as his girlfriend, named Julie said yes to the proposal. The band stopped glowing the next day, so Ben is currently back at work making another one.
